Michael John McCarthy is a musician, sound designer & composer for stage & screen.
He has toured internationally with Zoey Van Goey, Lord Cut-Glass and Aidan Moffat, and has played on albums by Emma Pollock, Alasdair Roberts, RM Hubbert, Trembling Bells & Bonnie Prince Billy, and Niall Connolly amongst others. He has worked on over 80 theatrical productions and has collaborated on the making of nine Scotsman Fringe First award winners. He has been four times nominated for the Critics Award for Theatre in Scotland in the category Best Use of Music & Sound. Work for screen includes the documentaries Where You're Meant To Be, Pitching Up, & Hey! Ronnie Regan. He is the creator & performer of Turntable, produced by Red Bridge, and his most recent album release is Sámh, currently available on Bandcamp. His new band Album Club are due to release their debut LP on Last Night From Glasgow in 2022.
